Helmut Froboese

Helmut was born in Berlin in 1943 and after attending elementary and middle school, he was granted a 3-year apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank, Berlin (named at the time Berliner Disconto Bank). After graduation he became a junior Foreign Exchange Trader. In 1963 he moved to Frankfurt to work in the office of the official currency broker at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. In 1974 INTERMONEY Foreign Exchange Brokers was established in Frankfurt and he became a Managing Director and successfully broadened the customer base in banking centers in Europe and beyond. When the company decided to open a branch office in New York in 1978, his previously established contacts and his knowledge of the English language became a deciding factor in putting him in charge of planning, setting up and managing the office in New York. As the Executive Vice-President he supervised all international staff, financial procedures, and customer relations. Although he decided to settle in the United States, in 1980 he moved to Frankfurt for a brief period of time to help with the establishment of VALEX Foreign Exchange Brokers. After having been granted Resident Alien Status in the United States he moved back to New York and settled in Dutchess County, N.Y. In 2002, Helmut became an American citizen. His background enabled him to work as an advisor to individual investors and money managers in foreign currency-related matters. His overall experience and a belief in customer satisfaction makes Helmut a welcome addition to the Accurapid team.
